When do I need my flu shot?

In a weekly email I receive from the state health department it shows the state and national trends for the spread of influenza.

I’ve included it below. You can see that Tennessee as a whole (and I’d include Knoxville in particular) starts to see influenza infections in early December.

I recommend patients receive their vaccinations by the end of October. This gives the body time to make enough antibodies for adequate protection.

Dedicated Flu Shot Days

Every year Trinity hosts several days where our patients can walk in and receive their flu shot quickly and from their health care team.  We encourage our patients to get vaccinated from influenza regularly and we want to make this process as simple as possible.  We also want our patients to know that their health care is being coordinated by the very people who know them best– their doctors and nurses.  Health care that is fragmented and divided up among many different retail based clinics becomes confusing and unorganized.

Our dedicated flu shot days are September 23rd, 27th, and 30th.  We’ll have extra personnel staffed from 8:30am-12pm and 1:45pm to 4:00pm.

If you need your flu shot, feel free to come in one of these days and we’ll get it done.  We are happy to bill your insurance for you and in many cases the vaccine is completely covered.

Let us know if you have questions and we look forward to helping you stay healthy this year.

It’s time for your flu shot!

Did you know that more people in the United States die from influenza and its complications than from car accidents?  It’s amazing how dangerous this common disease really is.  Now is the time to protect yourself and your family.

The seasonal influenza vaccination is available at Trinity. We have all dosages and forms including the 1/2 dosage recommended for children under three years of age and the FluMist nasal spray. The standard adult formulation is available too.

We encourage all our patients to get a flu shot if it is medically appropriate. Trinity patients can receive their vaccine at any office visit, at a family member’s office visit, or on a walk in basis.

Most insurances cover the cost of the influenza vaccine very well but since all policies are different we will be happy to help you figure it out.
